This art piece was named as such from the nickname given to the Mount-Royal, urban oasis in the heart of Montreal, where one can see standing from the center of the painting the George-Étienne Cartier Monument of the Mount Royal Park (sculptor George William Hill), inaugurated in 1911. Sir George-Étienne Cartier (1814-1873) was considered one of the most influential politicians of his time.
