— About This Artwork

This piece was made while listening to the song Hip-Hop titled « Devenir Immortel » by Loud (album 'Une année record', 2017).

The artwork has a vertical linear texture that has the same principles and optical properties found in lenticular imaging, thus changing its appearance according to the viewer's viewing angle by focusing the reflected light while accentuating its luminance.

This unique texture is fashioned by first applying multiple layers of walnut oil paint with a painting knife, which are then uniformly hatched to form a tightly-woven series of thin vertical slats, with the ridges' varying height going up to a quarter of an inch. This technique forms a wavy and wrinkled weave covering its entire surface, thus presenting a tactile quality that adds to the sensory and perceptive experience of the piece.
